The Election Commission on Monday deferred elections in Samastipur, Sarairanjan and Dalsinghsarai Assembly constituencies in Samastipur district of Bihar to October 29.

This decision has been taken as there were reports of rise in violence and law and order problems in these constituencies during the polling, which was earlier scheduled for October 26, EC sources said.

The EC had earlier postponed elections in violence-prone Haveli Kharagpur in Munger and Surajgarha in Lakhisarai districts to October 29.

With Monday's decision, five Assembly constituencies would go to polls on October 29.
