EC transfers two Bihar police officers on poll eve

Acting tough, the Election Commission on Monday directed the transfer of two senior Central Reserve Police Force officials doing election duty in Patna for meeting Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad.

The action against the officials came a day ahead of the first phase of assembly polls in the state and has been taken for their violation of the model code of conduct, EC sources said.

The EC has directed the Home Ministry to shift Inspector General Arun Chibber and Deputy Inspector General Alok Raj for the violation of the code by meeting the Railways minsiter in Patna at his residence on Sunday night, the sources said.
