Bihar: Congress expels 12 rebel candidates in fray Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | October 14, 2005 20:25 IST Last Updated: October 14, 2005 21:36 IST The Congress party has expelled 12 rebels contesting polls including seven former legislators from the party for six years on Friday. A Congress spokesperson said the party has expelled 12 rebels candidates contesting polls against the official candidates on the ground of anti-party activities. Congress leaders said the decision to expel rebels is a warning for others who will defy party discipline. Congress is contesting 51 of 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar assembly polls in alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal,175, Nationalist Congress Party, 8 and Communist Party of India-Marxist, 9 seats. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is schedule to jointly campaign with RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and NCP president Sharad Pawar on Saturday in Patna.
