Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani on Friday said Rashtriya Janata Party supremo Lalu Prasad has broken all records in corruption and mis-governance.

"Sarvodaya leader Jayaprakash Narayan would have never imagined a man calling himself his disciple would break all records in corruption...Corruption patronised by Lalu in Bihar surpassed corruption prevalent under Congress regimes," he said kicking off his three-day poll campaign in the state.

Charging Lalu with having 'ruined' Bihar, Advani said 'the kind of nepotism and casteism that was witnessed under Lalu was unparalleled'.

He said security of the common man was the touchstone of the efficacy of any government and the performance of the RJD government on the law and order front had brought a bad name to Bihar.

"The attack on no less a person than a senior leader of a political party and a former Union minister at an election rally is proof enough of the fact that law and order has completely collapsed in Bihar," he said referring to the recent attack on BJP leader Ravishanker Prasad at an election meeting at Nokha.

The BJP president said the people in Bihar yearned for change and 'I want the people to be the real victors this time and their victory lies in an end to the 15 years of jungle raj presided over by Lalu Prasad."

He asserted that a government led by Nitish Kumar, whose 'honesty and sincerity was beyond doubt', would be able to bring a turnaround in the state's destiny.

Expressing confidence that the electors would give the NDA a 'positive mandate' to rule the state, Advani asked the voters not to get carried away by caste and religious sentiments and vote for good governance and prosperity.

He said in just six years, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government at the Centre gave fresh impetus to economic progress and attacked at the root of corruption.

"Unfortunately, Bihar remained largely untouched by the wave of prosperity unleashed by the NDA government due to mis-governance under RJD dispensation. I want the hardworking and talented people of the state to reap the benefits of development which NDA rule can bring," he said.
