No knowledge of leadership change in MP: Uma

October 13, 2005 14:40 IST

Amid reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party had decided to send her to Madhya Pradesh as chief minister after the Bihar elections, Uma Bharti said on Thursday that she had no knowledge of any such move.

"I have no idea. I am not aware of any such decision taken by the party," Bharti, who is co-incharge of BJP's poll campaign in Bihar, told reporters at the Patna airport before leaving for electioneering.

Bharti, who had resigned as Madhya Pradesh chief minister after a Hubli court issued a warrant of arrest against her last August,in a riot case in 1994, said that she was doing sadhna in Uttaranchal and later went to Chitrakoot, from where she had come here for electioneering.

BJP sources had said on Tuesday that the party had taken a decision to effect leadership change in Madhya Pradesh after the Bihar elections, replacing incumbent chief minister Babu Lal Gaur with Uma Bharti. Gaur was Bharti's choice when she quit the post.

The sources said that a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of BJP general secretaries chaired by president L K Advani last Saturday.
