Udai Narayan Chaudhary to be Speaker of Bihar Assembly

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday that the post of Bihar Assembly Speaker would go to the Janata Dal (United) while the deputy Speaker would be from the Opposition.

The chief minister told mediapersons at the state Assembly that senior JD(U) leader and former minister Udai Narayan Chaudhary would be the Speaker of the state Assembly. He said the Opposition would decide the name for the post of the deputy Speaker.

Nomination for the post would be filed on Tuesday and elections held on November 30, if required, he added.

Kumar also said that senior JD(U) leader Prabhunath Singh would be the leader of the JD(U) Parliamentry party.
