Kalam visits J&K quake victims

President A P J Abdul Kalam, who arrived in Srinagar [Images] on a two-day visit, flew directly to the quake-affected Tangdhar area near the Line of Control, to take stock of the rehabilitation measures for the victims there.

President Kalam was received at the Srinagar airport by Governor Lieutenant General (retired) S K Sinha, Chief Minister Ghulam [Images] Nabi Azad, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, apart from senior civil, police and army officials.

Kalam is scheduled to return to Srinagar on Saturday afternoon and would spend the night at the Raj Bhawan, where the governor will host a dinner in his honour.

President Kalam is visiting the Uroosa village in the Uri sector of the LoC on Sunday, before he flies back to the capital.
