Kalam visits J&K quake victims

President A P J Abdul Kalam, who arrived in Srinagaron a two-day visit, flew directly to the quake-affected Tangdhar area near theLine of Control, to take stock of the rehabilitation measures for the victims there.

President Kalam was received at the Srinagar airport byGovernor Lieutenant General (retired) S K Sinha, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, apart fromsenior civil, police and army officials.

Kalam is scheduled to returntoSrinagaron Saturdayafternoon and would spend the night at the Raj Bhawan, where the governorwill hosta dinner in hishonour.

President Kalamis visiting the Uroosa village in the Uri sector of the LoC on Sunday, before he flies back to the capital.
