Extradited gangster Abu Salem's [Images] lawyers Thursday sought to move an application to the Anti-terrorist Squad seeking permission for the presence of lawyer at audible distance during the gangster's interrogation.

Salem's lawyer Ashok Sarogi tried to move application to ATS in the court requesting the designated TADA judge P V Bavkar to take notice of it. The court asked the defence counsel to approach the ATS in its office with the application instead of serving the application in the court.

Earlier, the special TADA court had rejected a similar plea by the defence seeking the presence of lawyer during the interrogation of Salem by CBI in 1993 serial bomb blast case.

The court had then asked the defence lawyers to first approach the investigating agency with the request saying it was it's discretion and approach the court if the plea is rejected.
