The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the police to submit documents substantiating its claim of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli being a suspect in Preeti Jain conspiracy case. In its reply to Gawli's application praying the police may be restrained from subjecting him to scientific tests in regard to the investigations in the Jain conspiracy case, the police informed the court that Gawli was a suspect in the case and there was a need to conduct his scientific tests.

On hearing the police's claim, the Bench comprising Justice D G Deshpande and Justice V M Kanade directed the police to produce the relevant documents proving their claim and adjourned the matter till December 2. Earlier, the Bench had permitted Gawli to make amendments in his application praying that police may be restrained from subjecting him to scientific tests in regard to investigations in the Preeti Jain conspiracy case.

Gawli's lawyer P M Pradhan said the police has served them a notice saying they plan to conduct Gawli's lie-detector test on November 28.
