Indian government's special envoy Virendra Dayal said Wednesday he has got the essential documents from the Volcker Committee in connection with its report which names ex-external affairs minister Natwar Singh and the Congress party as beneficiaries in the oil-for-food scam under Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Dayal told reporters in New York that he will examine the documents after reaching New Delhi.

Dayal was appointed to go through the documents on the basis of which Paul Volcker, the former head of United States Federal Reserve appointed by the United Nations to probe pay-offs by Saddam regime in the oil-for-food programme, names Natwar Singh in his report.

Dayal spent nearly a week in New York where he met UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Volcker, both of whom promised to fully cooperate with the Indian government's investigation.
