A total of 12 candidates are in the fray for the the seat with the main fight between Sheopujan Prasad Rai of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Jitendra Kumar Rai of Janata Dal (United) and Chulhan Prasad Singh of Communist Party of India.

Meanwhile, repolling was held on Sunday at two booths (234 and 235) of Sitamarhi assembly constituency, which reported a 46 per cent voter turnout. Election in Sitamarhi was orginally slated for November 13 but was deferred to November 16 along with 14 other constituencies, due to security reasons.
