Central Bureau of Investigation Director U S Mishra Saturday said that the agency has specific inputs from central intelligence agencies as regards threat to extradited gangster Abu Salem [Images] from rivals and that adequate security measures have been taken in this regard.

Mishra, who is on a brief visit to Mumbai, Saturday reviewed progress of interrogation of Salem by the CBI special task force. He is also slated to meet Mumbai Police Chief A N Roy, sources said.

Commenting on the controversy over the statements of Salem's lawyers that the gangster could turn approver, the CBI chief said the stage has not come yet for this issue. "He has to become an accused first," he said.

Asked about the progress of extradition request made by India for Salem's seperated wife, Samira Jumani, the CBI chief said the process was on, but refused to elaborate further.
