November 11, 2005 17:25 IST

A trough of low pressure, lying over south west and adjoining west central Bay, which weakened Thursday still persists.

Under its influence, rain or thunder showers were likely at many places in coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and at a few places in interior Tamil Nadu, Met officials said.

Isolated heavy showers were likey to occur over coastal Tamil Nadu.

The city will remain generally cloudy with the possibility of one or two rain spells. The forecast was valid for the next 24 hours.

People in the city and coastal districts bore the brunt of incessant rains for four days since November 6. Hundreds of families in the northern, southern and western suburbs of the city are still reeling under the impact of heavy flooding.
