PM asks Buta to avoid controversies

Prime Minister Manmohan Singhon Tuesday said Bihar Governor Buta Singh should avoid triggering controversies through his statements.

Dr Singh told newspersonsin Patnathat in view of his constitutional post, Buta Singh should avoid issuing statements, which create confusion.

Regarding the Supreme Court`s order describing the role of Buta Singh and dissolution of the state Assembly as 'unconstitutional', he said the governor should keep in mind the dignity of the post. It was 'unfortunate' thatthe governor was trapped in controversies because ofhis statements, he added.

To another query regarding the pressure exerted upon the United Progressive Alliance government by its major alliance partner Rashtriya Janata Dal, led byRailway Minister Lalu Prasad,Dr Singh saidLalu was a senior cabinet colleague and his 'good' suggestions have been accepted.
