Senior Government official commits suicide

A senior official of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare allegedly committed suicide in his house in west Delhi on Saturday as he was depressed due to protracted illness, police said.

Tarsem Chandra Aggarwal (57) was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his wife in their house in Hari Nagar.

In a suicide note, he said he alone was responsible for taking the extreme step, police said.

Aggarwal was injured in a road accident in Punjab about six months ago and had been keeping unwell since then.

As a result, he was depressed, police said adding investigations were on.
