Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Parliament from BiharMohammed Shahabuddin, wanted in several cases, was Saturday arrested from his official residence in Delhi.

After his arrest, Shahabuddin was taken to the Parliament Street police station.

The Bihar police will take him on transit remand to Siwan, where will be produced before a local court.

Shahabuddin was arrested on the basis of a tip-off by the Delhi police to the Bihar police team camping in the capital.

The MP from Siwan was not even given time to change his clothes, which were brought to the police station by an aide.

He is to be produced before a Delhi courtfor seeking his transit remand, police sources said.

Shahabuddin had at least eight non-bailable arrest warrants pending against him, mostly those relating to seizure of foreign-made firearms, ammunition and unaccounted foreign currency during a raid on his Pratappur house in April.
