The Pakistan Foreign Office in Islamabad has lodged a protest with the Indian High Commission, alleging harrassment of domestic help of one of its senior diplomats in its diplomatic mission in New Delhi by the Indian police.

A press release by the Pakistan Foreign Office given on Wednesday night claimed Nadeem, the domestic help of Moazzam Khan, a counsellor in the Pakistan High Commission was harrassed by 'Indian intelligence agents' in a South Delhi market on October 30.

"A police party in the market first alleged that Nadeem was carrying counterfeit Indian currency. However, under public pressure, the police retracted the allegation," the release claimed.

Counsellor Moazzam Khan was pushed and insulted by the Indian police when he reached the scene to rescue his servant. "Nadeem was taken to a police station from where he was freed after sometime," the press release alleged.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the Counsellor Political of the Indian High Commission on October 31 and lodged a 'strong protest over this incident', it said, adding that the Indian Deputy High Commissioner T C A Raghavan called Director General (SA) Ibne Abbas and assured to take up the matter with the authorities at Delhi.
