The bodies of two children killed in Saturday's serial blasts were jointly cremated on Wednesday after the police worked out an understanding between the three families who had laid claim on the bodies.

One Anupam Gupta had claimed the body of a three-year-old boy as that of his son, Utkarsh while the kin of an Air force surgeon Dilbagh Singh who had been killed in the blast said it was Singh's son Nikhil.

In the other case, one Apurva Sharma from Assam had claimed that the body of an eight-year-old girl was that of his niece Maithri.

However, Dilbagh's relatives argued that it was his daughter Priyanka. Both bodies had been charred beyond recognition.

On Wednesday, the families agreed to jointly cremate the body on the intervention of a senior police officer.

DNA tests on the remains would be conducted later, police sources said.
