Police issue sketches of blasts suspect

November 02, 2005 21:39 IST

Racing against time to crack the Delhi serial blasts case, policeon Wednesdayissued sketches of a man suspected to have planted the bomb.It wasconcealed in a bag in a busand exploded after the alert driver and conductor threw it out.

The three identikits showed the man, aged about 21, with a beard, a thick moustache and a thin moustache. He was described as about five feet five inches tall, thinly-built and wearing a baseball cap with the words 'New York' inscribed on it. He also had a bandage on his left hand.

The sketches had been prepared on the basis of descriptions given by the Delhi Transport Corporationbus passengers, who had a narrow escape on Saturday, when two other explosions in Paharganj and Sarojini Nagar killed 59 people and injured over 200 others.

Most of the inputs had been given by a man to whom the militant had handed over the bag before alighting from the bus. Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said the sketch showing the man with a beard was '80 percent accurate'.

He said information had started coming in as soon as the sketches were released and were being verified. No identikit had been prepared of suspects who triggered the other blasts as no eye-witnesses had come forward, he told reporters.

Sub: Can the sketches be uploaded ?

Wouldn't it great if you can upload the sketches of the suspect? Atleast that 'might' be of some help.
