A village in Haryana mourns

A pall of gloom has descended on Mandoli village near Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, the native place of veteran actor and Union sports minister Sunil Dutt who died in Mumbai on Wednesday morning.

The news of Dutt's death was received with shock in the village.

Sunil Dutt's younger brother Som Dutt, who had left for Mumbai by train on Tuesday after learning that his brother was not well, would reach in time for the cremation in Mumbai, the villagers said.

Sunil Dutt, who was born in a non-descript village of Khurd (now in Pakistan) in Jhelum district, migrated to this village after Partition.

The people here see Dutt as a man who brought laurels to a small village and the entire country with his contributions in the fields of entertainment and politics.
