Bangladeshis kill Indian villager

May 06, 2005 18:02 IST

An Indian was stabbed to death by a group of Bangladeshis near Karaitali, a border village in north Tripura district, police said on Friday.

A group of Indian villagers, which was searching for their cattle, had crossed the border fencing at Karaitali on Wednesday when a few Bangladeshis dragged one Suraj Lal Pashi into their territory, they said.

Pashi's body, with injury marks, was found in the area on Thursday, police said.

The Border Security Force personnel tried to contact officials of Bangladesh Rifles, they said.

Police have registered a case about this incident.

On April 16, Assistant Commandant Jeevan Kumar of the Border Security Force was dragged into Bangladeshi territory and killed.
