Move trial outside Tamil Nadu: Seer

The Supreme Court today sought Tamil Nadu government's response to Kanchi Shankaracharya's plea to transfer the Sankararaman murder case against him outside the state.

The Shankaracharya alleged surcharged atmosphere in the trial court and absence of fair trial.

A bench comprising Chief Justice R C Lahoti, Justice D M Dharmadhikari and Justice G P Mathur issued notices to the state government, main approver in the case Ravi Subramaniam and all other accused.

It posted the matter for further hearing in July.
