Bihar Governor Buta Singh appointed Ashish Ranjan Sinha as Director General of Police on Monday.

Sinha replaces Narayan Mishra.

The home department issued a notification on Monday afternoon, Chief Secretary K A H Subramanian informed journalists.

Mishra was appointed DGP during former chief minister Rabri Devi's reign.

Sinha was the director general of state the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, which is probing the Rs 17.5 crore flood relief scam against former Patna district nagistrate Gautam Goswami and others.

Subramanian added that Sinha's appointment was a normal reshuffle to strengthen the state administration and police department to improve law and order in the state.

He said three officials of inspector general rank were also transferred.
