The minority Kashmiri Pandit community is the latest to join the great rush of people to board the Srinagar [Images] Muzaffarabad bus.

The Pandits have asked for a special bus to carry pilgrims to the Sharda Devi temple.

Responding positively to the demand, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said the travel facility would be made available at an appropriate time.

The assurance came during a meeting of Hindu Welfare Society office-bearers with the CM on Monday morning.

The deputation called on the Mufti to highlight the demands and problems of the Pandit community in Kashmir.

The CM spelt out various measures taken by the coalition government in J&K to reinstate Pandits especially the construction of cluster accommodation at Shiekhpora in central Budgam district and at Mattan in South Kashmir.

He said the "day is not far off when Pandits would return to the Valley and live side by side with their Muslim brethren like in the past."

The CM said that there would be only two buses a month to Muzaffarabad, but he foresaw a daily bus not too far in the future.
