Two persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly threatening popular television actor Smriti Irani [Images].

One of the two arrested is a dialogue writer for television serials.

"They threatened Irani for professional reasons," Deputy Commissiner of Police Amitab Gupta said.

Irani said she is relieved that the accused have been nabbed. She, however, refused to divulge details of the callers or the motive.

"The callers not only threatened me, but my two innocent children as well.

"Despite the calls, I continued to attend my shootings. I wanted to send across a message that they could not deter me from working," she said.

Irani had filed a first information report with Oshiwara police in north Mumbai after repeatedly receiving death threats on phone last week.
