A powerful bomb killed one student and seriously injured six others in a north Kashmir government high school at Nadihal Bandipore in Baramulla district, about 50 km from Srinagar [Images].

Police said the bomb exploded when the students were busy with their class work. Panic gripped the students, who rushed out of their classrooms.

As the news spread anxious parents rushed to the school.

The injured were initially taken to the sub-district hospital at Bandipore for treatment. However, doctors there referred them to Srinagar for specialised treatment.

The police and the army have reached the spot. The school building was searched.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast.
