Bus falls in canal; 25 feared dead

Twenty-five people were feared drowned after a state transport bus fell into a canal in Dakor town of Kheda district, Gujarat, on Saturday evening, police said in Ahmedabad.

Police said search operations were on.

One person swam to safety and informed the police about the mishap, the police said.

The bus was heading towards Dakor town from Rania.

The search teams were finding it difficult to operate in the darkness and the bus appeared to be completely submerged in the water, Kheda district Superintendent of Police S S Trivedi said.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot, Trivedi said.
