Maharashtra Labour Minister Nawab Malik, who was charged with corruption by anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, resigned on Friday.

The Justice P B Sawant Commission, which probed corruption charges against four of the state's ministers, reportedly indicted him in a report submitted to the government on February 23.

Malik is the second Nationalist Congress Party minister to tender his resignation, after Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Suresh Jain put in his papers on Friday.

"I have sent my resignation to party president Sharad Pawar [Images]," Malik said.

Apart from Jain and Malik, Hazare had also charged ministers Vijaykumar Gavit and Padamsinh Patil with corruption.

The one-man commission was set up in September 2003.
