Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has invited Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and his family to India to watch cricket in the ongoing India-Pakistan series.

"I have decided to invite President Musharraf to come to India and watch a cricket match," he told the Lok Sabha on Thursday while replying to a debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address to a joint sitting of Parliament on
February 25.

"I must say that nothing brings the people of our sub-continent together than our love for cricket and Bollywood cinema," the prime minister said.

"I am equally conscious of the fact that today even as I speak in this august House, I am competing for the nation's attention with young men like (Virendra) Sehwag and (Asim) Kamal. Perhaps that is how it should be," he said.

In a lighter vein, he quipped: "Indeed how nice it would be if we conducted our affairs in this House with the same spirit of sportsmanship that our young cricketers exhibited on the playing field of the sub-continent."
