Acting swiftly after Bihar was placed under President's rule, police on Tuesday raided the divisional jail in Gaya and claimed to have recovered Rs 10,000 in cash from Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Legislative Assembly and Bihar's former minister Shivendra Prasad Yadav.

A police team raided the jail after being 'informed' that some inmates possessed 'objectionable articles'.

Yadav has been in judicial custody in connection with a criminal case, District Magistrate Chaitanya Prasad said.

Four knives and several other objectionable items were also recovered from other cells, he said.

This is the first operation in a jail in the state after President's rule was imposed on Monday.
