Activist H D Shourie, 93, dies

H D Shourie, consumer activist and father of former Union minister Arun Shourie, died in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The 93-year-old retired Indian Civil Services officer and founder of Common Cause is survived by two sons and a  daughter.

He will be cremated this evening in Lodhi crematorium.

Arun Shourie, former disinvestment and communication minister in the erstwhile Vajpayee government, said his father died in sleep this morning, a day after he fell sick.

The doctors said H D Shourie is believed to have died due to heart attack.

Arun Shourie had lost his mother last year.
