A businessman was shot dead on Wednesday by an unidentified assailant outside a temple near Jaipur in Rajasthan, a senior police official said.

Yuvraj Jain, owner of local condiment manufacturer, Ajab Namkeen, was shot when he was coming out of the temple after offering prayers, Inspector General of Police O P Gehlotra said.

Jain, 50, was wounded seriously in the attack and was rushed to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The assailant fled the scene leaving behind a country-made pistol, the official said, adding that old enmity was suspected to be the reason behind the attack.
