The police remand of former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, facing charges of killing a black buck, was extended by a day by a court in Jhajhar on Sunday.

The court said the bail application of Pataudi, who was on Saturday remanded to police custody for a day after he surrendered before it, will be taken up on Monday.

Before he was produced in court, Pataudi underwent a customary medical check up at the Jhajjar Civil Hospital.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Sudhir Jiwan extended Pataudi's remand by a day on the prosecution's plea that the registration book of the vehicle used in the crime was yet to be recovered.

The police had already seized the vehicle from Pataudi's residence in Delhi.

The court allowed the counsel of Wildlife Trust of India and Peoples for Animal to assist the prosecution in the case.

The judge pronounced the order after hearing arguments from the defence and the prosecution for nearly 45 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Pataudi was taken to Kilodh village near Jhajhar where he and his associates allegedly killed the endangered black buck and two rabbits, Jhajjar Superintendent of Police Hanif Qureshi told PTI.
