A simple morning walk can not only bring good health and fitness, but it can also earn you a handsome award.

At a novel ceremony to be held on Sunday at Priyadarshni Park in south Mumbai, morning walkers frequenting the park will vie for the Morning Walkers Awards.

The award, instituted by the Priyadarshini Laughter Club International and the PDP Walkers Group, is aimed at encouraging morning walks and infusing cheer into the exercise.

The awards are also aimed at knitting the local walkers' community together and building a sense of fellowship.

The awards have been divided into six category, including oldest walker (male and female), couple walkers and walkers with best style and grace.

Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai Johnny Joseph, a morning walker himself, would be the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
