Former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and six others involved in a poaching case failed to appear before the police here.

They were given another 24 hours to do so on Tuesday.

One of the eight accused, Madan Singh, who is under arrest, has claimed that Pataudi had fired at the black buck.

A Haryana police team recovered from the south-Delhi residence of Pataudi the jeep from which the carcasses of the hunted black buck and two rabbits were seized on Friday night near Jhajjar, Haryana.

"We are serving upon them another notice to give them an opportunity to join the investigations," suprintendent of police, Hanief Qureshi, said on Tuesday.

The six accomplices are Shashi Singh, Dyal Singh, Balwan Singh, Shahid Ahmad, Mohammad Ayub, Yasudin and Madan.

"They (the accused) should cooperate with police in the investigations," Qureshi added.

Earlier, Qureshi had said the police had fixed 0500 IST Tuesday as the deadline for the presence of the accused in the case failing which the police would send a party to arrest them.

"If they don't present them before the SHO then police may raid their possible hideouts to arrest them," he said.
