Workers of Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Ltd, injured in a police baton charge in Gurgaon on Monday, on Friday met United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and sought her intervention to bring the guilty to book.

They also sought her intervention to get the retrenched workers reinstated.

"Sonia Gandhi [Images] assured us that she will intervene and try to get the workers justice," injured Suresh Gaur, President of Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Workers Union said after meeting Sonia.

Around 3,000 workers are out of job, he said adding the MNC plant is "totally shut" now. When asked whether All India Trade Union Congress-affiliated union has lost hope in the Left parties, Gaur, who led a 20-member delegation to Sonia's residence, said "workers have total trust in comrades but have come to show their injuries to Gandhi and tell her about the high handedness of the administration".

He refuted the police claim that workers turned violent first, leading to the baton charge.
