In a fresh eruption of violence, the Haryana police assaulted newsmen present at the Gurgaon Civil Hospital where employees of Honda Motorcycles and Scooter Ltd are recuperating after their clash with the police on Monday.

The cameraman of Total Television, a local TV channel, and a journalist of Dainik Tribune were manhandled by the police who wanted to know why the media was covering the incident live.

The local police chief assured newsmen that action will be taken against the erring policemen.

Dr John V George, additional director general (law and order) in Haryana visited the spot to take stock of the situation. Talking to newsmen, he said the situation at the hospital was under control and that it would improve by Wednesday.

"I cannot give you the details of the police personnel deployed. But, we have enough force to deal with the situation," he said.

He assured newsmen that relatives of the missing persons can contact the local police who would help them in tracing them.
