The Bhartiya Janata party on Monday demanded the immediate dismissal of the Congress government in Haryana and has asked the centre to order a judicial probe into the brutal lathi charge by the Haryana police on the workers of Hero Honda in Gurgoan.

Speaking to rediff.com, party parliamentary spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the incident in Haryana was not just shocking, but was beyond the imagination of civil soceity.

"We strongly condemn the incident in which the Haryana police beat up hapless workers of an industrial house in brute fashion. The congress party, which claims to represent the workers, should be ashamed of the incident.

"We plan to take up the incident in Parliament in a big manner on Tuesday. We demand that the central government immediately dismiss the Bhupender Singh Hooda government and order a judicial probe into the incident," Malhotra said.

Haryana Industries Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala, while admitting that the incident had shamed the Congress, dismissed the Bharatiya Janata Party demand for dismissal of the government as absurd.

"As far as the BJP demand is concerned, it is totally unjustified. We were talking to both the parties and the matter had been amicably settled but some elements instigated the workers, who went on rampage this morning. There was no reason for demonstration and they blocked the traffic. Section 144 was imposed, but it had no impact either. Then the mob went out of control and torched three police vehicles. The police retaliated.

"We have already ordered a probe into the incident and no one, either in the police or instigators, would be spared. We have shifted 65 injured workers to Sona Hospital and have rushed the team of doctors for providing medical assistance to the workers," he said.
