A day after the abduction and rape of a 23-year-old woman in Mayapuri in Southwest Delhi, the station house officer of the local police station was on Thursday shunted out.

Inspector Samay Singh was transferred to Delhi Armed Police, police sources said.

Inspector Iqbal of Traffic Police has replaced him, they said.

The woman was abducted by four men from Mayapuri area and was allegedly gang-raped by them in a moving car.

She was later dumped in Pitampura area of the city.

She was then taken to a hospital where medical examination confirmed rape.

Seriously concerned over the alleged rape, Home Minister Shivraj Patil summoned Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul to enquire about investigations into such cases in the recent past.
