Expressing serious concern over the alleged rape of a 23-year-old housewife in Delhi on Wednesday, Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Thursday summoned Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul to enquire about investigations into such cases in the recent past.

"The home minister has taken very seriously Wednesday's rape and asked the Delhi police commissioner to come to his office," informed sources said.

Patil would discuss with Paul the progress made in the investigation into rape cases in the capital, including that of a Delhi University student in Dhaula Kuan in May last, the sources said.

Police is preparing sketches of the accused on the basis of description given by two women who witnessed the abduction of the victim from Mayapuri area by four men around 0500 IST. The victim was allegedly gang raped in a moving car and later dumped in Pitampura area.

The woman was then taken to a hospital where medical examination confirmed rape.
