The Congress has welcomed the decision of the Allahabad high court setting aside a Rae Bareli court's order discharging Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani from the Babri Masjid demolition case.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi Jayanathi Natrajan, congress spokesperson, said that the law of the land should be allowed to take its own course.
She, however, refused to answer the question whether Advani had influenced the Central Bureau of Investigation and prevailed upon the investigating agency not to appeal in the high court against the order of the lower court.
"Some things are better left unsaid," she retorted with a smile.
"We are happy with the judgement of the Allahabad high court and we hope L K Advani should stand trail after all he was one of the many leaders of the BJP and and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad who were involved in the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992," she said.
Bharatiya Janata party spokesman Prakash Javdekar refused to say much.
"As far as the judgement is concerned we are still studying it and thereafter we would take appropriate action and this includes the option of moving the Supreme Court against the ruling of the high court," he said.
