Goa [Images] Governor S C Jamir on Sunday said he proposed to ask the BJP government in the state to prove its majority in the state Assembly "without delay".

"Now that the government has been reduced to a minority, I now propose to test on the floor of the House. That is the only way that I can ascertain," the Governor told a TV channel.

He prefaced his remarks by saying that "since four members of BJP have resigned and other constituents of the ruling government, they have also resigned from there, so have to see which one has the majority and after that I shall take the constitutional measures to test on the floor of the House".

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar [Images], after meeting the governor on Saturday, topping a day of hectic political developments when his government was reduced to minority, had said his ministry should be given an opportunity to prove its majority in the state assembly.
