Even the relatives of top police officials are not safe in Uttar Pradesh.

Kidnappers abducted the wife of Inspector General of Police (Vigilance) Rathi Ram from Vikas Nagar in Lucknow.

They then let Prabhawati Devi off in Khadra locality after robbing her of her valuables and jewellery, police said.

Devi was walking back to home from the market when three men in a van pulled her into their vehicle and sped away, they said.

After looting her jewellery and other valuables, she was set free near the Sardar Patel hostel of the King George's Medical University, the police added.
