Jr seer's judicial remand extended till Feb 3

A court in Kanchipuram on Monday extended till February 3 the judicial remand of the Kanchi mutt's junior pontiff, Vijayendra Saraswati, arrested on January 10 in connection with the Sankararaman murder case.

Judicial First Class Magistrate G Uthamaraj also extended the judicial remands of five others -- Sathish, Arumugam, Arun, Devaraj and 'Dil' Pandian -- who had surrendered, till the same date.

Earlier in the day, the magistrate had extended the judicial remand of Ravi Subramaniam, who had turned approver in the case, till February 3.

A large group of devotees had gathered at the court to see Vijayendra Saraswati.
