Heavy snowfall shuts Jammu-Srinagar route

The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed on Friday due to heavy snowfall, traffic authorities said.

Officials said it had been snowing heavily between Patnitop and Batote since Thursday.

Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal was also inaccessible.

The Jammu-Doda and Rajouri-Poonch routes were also closed.

The weather had affected air traffic from Srinagar [Images] on Thursday.
