A Pakistani national who was allegedly involved in spying activities in India was arrested in Delhi, police said on Monday.

Mohammad Azhar Rafiq was apprehended by the Special Cell at a courier shop near New Delhi railway station on Sunday when he was booking "incriminating documents" to send to Bangaldesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Ashok Chand said.

Rafiq, a resident of Rahmiyar Khan in Pakistan's Punjab province, had illegally entered India via Bangladesh in 2001 and had settled in Mumbai under an assumed name Sarang Ali Khan.

He was involved in spying activities for several years, Chand said.
