Govinda's brother threatened

January 05, 2005 09:04 IST

Filmmaker Kirti Kumar, the elder brother of actor-turned-politician Govinda, has received threats, a Mumbai police official said on Tuesday.

"Kumar was travelling with a friend in his car on the Andheri-Kurla Link Road heading towards Borivali when four persons in a Qualis came parallel to their car and pointed a gun at him. The Qualis later overtook them," Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shengaonkar said.

A complaint was first registered at Versova police station but later the matter was transferred to the Andheri police station after it was learnt that the area where the incident took place fell under its jurisdiction.

"We have provided one armed constable for Kumar's protection and are investigating the case," Shengaonkar said.
