The prime witness in the Best Bakery case, Zaheera Shaikh, on Wednesday failed to appear before the inquiry commission probing the Sabarmati Express carnage and the riots that followed in Gujarat.
Zaheera filed an application through her advocate seeking an extension.
The commission, comprising retired judges G T Nanavati and K G Shah, had summoned Zaheera for cross-examination.
It asked Zaheera to appear on March 21.
Sadhvi Meenakshi Devi, who deposed before the commission on Tuesday, also did not turn up for cross-examination.
She filed an application seeking adjournment and was asked to appear on March 19.
Fourteen people were killed in Best Bakery in Vadodara on March 1, 2002.
