Delhi University lecturer S A R Geelani, who was shot and grievously injured outside a friend's house in Delhi last week, gave a statement to the police on Monday.

Geelani was acquitted in the Parliament attack case by a Delhi high court division bench in October 2003.

Geelani's statement was recorded at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he is recuperating.

His lawyer Nandita Haksar was present when the statement was recorded.

Both Haskar and Delhi police officials refused to say anything about the contents of the statement.
