Unable to find bride, man ends life

February 11, 2005 14:27 IST

Frustrated at his failure to get married, a man committed suicide in a hotel at Raipur in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

The deceased, Yogendra Jugabhai, 32, a resident of Banaskantha district in north Gujarat, set himself ablaze on Thursday night, the police said.

"The victim, in his suicide note, said that he was fed up as he could not find himself a suitable bride and wanted to end his life", police inspector J J Desai said.

Jugabhai came to the city, booked a room in a hotel and ended his life after informing his relatives in Banaskantha over the phone of his intentions, he added.

The hotel staff rushed in after hearing his screams and admitted him to a local hospital where he was declared dead, the police said.
